Since 1998 The Hortense and Louis Rubin Dialysis Center, Inc. has offered extended home hemodialysis therapy with remote Internet monitoring. This therapy allows patients to dialyze on their schedules (not ours!)–with, OR without a partner. This therapy was originally known as Nocturnal Home Hemodialysis because most patients choose to dialyze at night while they slept, allowing them to wake up refreshed and ready to go about their daily activities– essentially, living their life to the fullest.

Many research studies have stated that ‘more dialysis is better’ and patients that opt for this type of dialysis have much more liberalization of their diet and fluid intake. These patients generally require fewer medications, have more energy, report thinking more clearly, and have fewer hospital visits than in-center dialysis therapy. Benefits such as reductions inrestless leg syndrome and sleep apnea have been reported.

This is the therapy of choice for the patient who wants to be in control of their chronic disease and believes their investment of time in training (2 to 3 weeks average) and feeling much better is worth it.

We offer ‘remotely staff assisted partnering’
via our trained Observers watching your machine readings via the Internet. You do NOT have to have a partner–since Our Rubin Observer, backed up by our Home training RNs, will be your ‘remote partner’. As long as you can fit your treatments between 5pm to 9am, awake or sleeping, you can use this extended dialysis therapy.
